What We Do
United Way Simcoe Muskoka works with charities, groups and leaders to identify our
community’s most pressing needs. Then we connect local experts and provide funding to
address those needs; empowering charities to do what they do best, help people who
need help. If you’re in a position to give, give with your heart and mind.

Stability Improves - Impact Stories from Community Collaboratives
- Finding Home After surviving years of abuse and isolation, Mila arrived at My Friend’s House and committed to recovery, healing from addiction, regaining her confidence, and through a unique partnership with Living Waters Resort, finding both safe housing and employment. Mila is now thriving, living free from violence, and connected to a supportive network. Finding Home bridges the gap between shelter and independence with trauma-informed, culturally sensitive care, empowering women and their children to not just survive, but truly rebuild. - Finding Home
- The Mobile Youth Wellness Hub What began as a moment of fear, pregnant, without housing or income, transformed into a journey of courage and connection. Through the Hub, she found not just care, but compassion. A nurse practitioner became her anchor, and a community of organizations rallied around her. Despite language barriers and urgent needs, housing was secured, prenatal care provided, and her baby was welcomed into a home filled with hope
- Creating Supportive Housing and Income Stability in Rural Simcoe County Skylar, a young man with development disabilities, helped shape every step of this initiative, from co-writing the grant to making the training process accessible for others like him. Now, Skylar is set to begin his hands-on training, equipped with safety certifications and a program he helped design. His journey exemplifies the heart of this project: building not only homes, but pathways to purpose, stability, and inclusion.
- Getting Ahead Across MuskokaI moved up here from Hamilton and was feeling very stressed and depressed with my financial situation. A neighbour recommended the program and from the first session I felt supported. I learned to understand my financial challenges in a new way, using tools that made me feel stronger and more in control. Every week, I looked forward to connecting with others and learning something new. I’ve made new friends, I don’t feel alone anymore, and I now look at my life with hope

What Local Organizations We’ve Funded Are Saying
I feel like I am part of a community and am gradually growing since the death of my husband that left me heart broken and financially insecure. The Circles community has made me welcome and I feel part of something, which has helped me with my grieving and move on and do things I need to do.
The program is beautiful and thoughtful and rich. The engagement and the safety in being vulnerable in order to grow was very appreciated.
As a single mom with a very busy life, having services connect to me vs me having to track down the care I need is lifechanging. I feel now I am on the path to good health.
Health Interventions project
Circles has helped me to develop a voice that I have been able to use to defend myself and others on an ongoing basis … I have grown so much and I have Circles to thank for a lot of the growth I have done.
This program was deeply impactful and meaningful, and I would strongly recommend it to any organization or program throughout Simcoe County and beyond! Thank you so much for your courage, support, and compassion.
You are amazing, thank you so so so much guys … for all your help, it is much appreciated. We promise to love and take care of everything and [pay] it forward when we can next.
Jade was a Furniture Bank client who later did her placement as an SSW student with us. She had been precariously housed since the age of 17 but now has her own apartment, is going to school full time and works several jobs.
